Southsea Castle played a main role in the story of The Mary Rose. In fact, King Henry VIII was stood on Southsea Castle during the Battle of the Solent, when he witnessed first hand the sinking of his beloved flagship.
That said, the links between Southsea Castle and The Mary Rose are not just historic. Today, the two museums hold a number of joint events throughout the year to celebrate this link.
Among the events is The Mary Rose Takeover of Southsea Castle, which sees archers take aim in the moat and a whole host of family-friendly activities within the courtyard.
Keep an eye on our events page for all the information on any takeover events, as well as the other exciting things we’ve got coming up at Southsea Castle.
